Phong's Materials

- A Question for Half-Life 2.

Guys, when I was creating this mod "Combine Soldier (details update)", I wanted to recreate the Combine's phong texture, because for me the original textures had symbols, however, I had to "redo the Combine's materials" in the beginning I had to redo a "raw" texture for each of them, a texture without the symbols, to be able to have more ease of creating from a material called “normal” and the material “Phong”.

But I don't know exactly how the phong works, I just know that it “reduced” the “shine, or oiliness that normal ones cause on the model”.

How can I create a Phong texture?

Is it possible to create automatically using VTFEdit?
