If anyone is interested, this bug was related to the "$BlendTintByBaseAlpha" "1" command in the VMT file.

BugfixFixed game crashing bug with decals

Now you can throw as many paint buckets as you like at zombies.

Decal rendering is disabled on all zombies to prevent the game from crashing.

Description:

Replacement of the original Half-Life 2 Zombies and Headcrabs models by the new models ported from Half-Life: Alyx.

This mod includes all four variants of zombies, variations of dismembered zombies, as well as all types of headcrabs. As a bonus, I included corpses.

How to install:

Half-Life 2 and episodes
- Download hla_zombies.7z archive with mods from this page.
- Extract HLA Zombies VPK files from the archive to your Half-Life 2 custom folder (...\hl2\custom\HLA Zombies_dir.vpk
...\hl2\custom\HLA Zombies_000.vpk
...\hl2\custom\HLA Zombies_001.vpk
etc).
- Start new game or chapter.
- Done!

Episodes
- Download hla_fast_zombie_episodes.7z archive with mod from this page.
- Extract HLA Fast Zombie Episodes VPK file from the archive to your Half-Life 2 Episode One and Two custom folders (...\episodic\custom\HLA Fast Zombie Episodes.vpk
...\ep2\custom\HLA Fast Zombie Episodes.vpk).
- Start new game or chapter.
- Done!
