Legacy Boost Physics

- A Mod for Sonic Frontiers.

primary preview sec preview img sec preview img

This mod recreates Sonic Generations' Physics using some parameter values directly copied from that game and video reference taken directly from Sonic Frontiers. There may be slight engine differences and this version will likely need updating down the road; large thanks go out to all who helped test and provide feedback!

Mods used in the preview video:

  • HE1 Sonic Reborn
  • Fake Generations Boost
  • Sonic Unleashed SFX

Recommended Codes:

  • Gameplay - Disable Hit Stop
  • Physics - Retain Horizontal Velocity when jumping

Recommended Settings:

  • Set the deceleration rate: 10

Key features:

  • All Code-based, so Open-Zone mods such as Full Tilt Physics and Hedgehog May Cry will be compatible with this mod. (The Boost Drain Code does carry into the Open-Zone but doesn't cause any issues)
  • GitHub Update Server, so this mod will automatically update when installed.

Key Changes made:

  • Acceleration has been decreased but top speed without boosting has been increased exponentially.
  • Sonic's rotation has been adjusted and more consistent with how it is in Sonic Generations, Boost Rotation is a lot stronger here than it is in Sonic Generations as it would not feel good otherwise.
  • Jump height has been lowered but Double Jump height has been increased (To be similar to Sajid's Double Jump Mod).
  • Homing Attack's home-in speed has been decreased slightly, Homing Attack's pop-up now goes straight up and lowered the Homing Attack cooldown.
  • Overall gravity has been increased.
  • Aerial Drag has been decreased.
  • Boost Speed has been increased, Air Boost now only lasts for a split-second and propels Sonic forward at a really high speed.
  • The Boost Gauge has been overhauled, the Boost will now drain a set amount of the gauge upon activation, rings and destroying enemies will refill the Boost Gauge.
  • Light Speed Dash now does not brake at the end and has a more forgiving activation range.
  • Stomp now travels much faster straight down
  • Rail Grinding Physics have been implemented, deaccelerating uphill and accelerating downhill, Boosting will prevent most of the deceleration.
  • Rail Grinding Speed has been increased.
  • Slide now retains momentum a lot more, weakened rotation power and lowered the deacceleration of it.
  • Bounce Jump now launches a lot higher (To counter the lowered jump height).
  • Quickstep is now a lot faster and goes a shorter distance, making a lot more viable for usage outside of Quickstep sections.
  • Drift is now tighter, doesn't deaccelerate as much and instantly turns in the dedicated direction.
  • Wall Jump's jump speed has been increased, cooldown has been decreased and jump height has been slightly decreased.
  • Skateboard's speed has been increased, steering power has been increased, jumping and double jumping whilst boarding is a lot higher.
  • Drop Dash's power has been increased and you can steer a lot easier with it (The Boost games don't have it, but it's there if you want it I guess lol)
