Washed out textures on editing a DDS file

- A Question for Genshin Impact.

Washed out textures.

When I open a dds texture to edit, the colors look fine, but once loaded into the game, the textures look washed out. Even if I don't edit the dds file, just invert alpha and invert it again to save it, the colors get washed out/whiter(?). I know just inverting the alpha and inverting it back is technically editing the file, but I want to know why the texture changes despite no difference when looking at the file in paint.net. The colors look fine in paint.net, but once the texture is loaded in game, it looks considerably different. I'll put an example of the mod I'm editing: How it looks, once I invert the alpha and invert it back, and my save settings in paint.net.

I'm using Paint.net and GIMP to edit textures, but it happens to the texture as soon as it's saved in Paint.net. It's not even just this mod's textures, it's whichever I open. The mod texture I'm editing is NOT mine.
